time to swatch

A few years ago I went to New York and was lucky enough to visit Habu headquarters. It was very exciting and I bought a few items. All the scarf kits have been worked up and given away as gifts, the funky lunch bag turned into a hat and some of the cottons became swatches but not finished objects. In honor of this new blog I think it's time to finally get to work on this fascinating linen (#N-3). It's dry like straw and I have 850 yards...can't wait to begin experimenting but maybe somebody has a good idea for a project too.

Habu is peace.

Kat, thank you so much for joining and posting! I love that Straw, i don't even remember seeing it, no wonder, unfortunately Habu's yarns discontinue and get new ones in.. I can't refrain myself from saying... desing a skirt with that, It would be wicked wicked cool!

I bought the yarn over four years ago so I wouldn't be surprised if it no longer exists. A skirt is an interesting thought. I'll see what happens to the fiber during the swatching process.

Carlene: this morning I woke up and thought TUNIC.

Nikko: ooh, what is that? It looks like there is fiber fuzz on yours.

Oh yeah, a tunic sounds perfect.

kat coyle: it is a big skein of kenaf from non other than habu...fuzzy it is and can't wait to make something from it...prob. something sculptural...can't wait to see what you make with your linen!

Kat, I like your approach of waiting to see what your swatch reveals and just experimenting.
